Jewellery making, creativity and a whole lot of rambling.................

So its been quite some time since I posted anything here and although I still love card making I haven't made anything for about 3 years now!
I decided to pack all of my card making paraphernalia up and in the process I came across a huge box of jewellery making items. Now this stuff didn't just magically appear in the cupboard!
Jewellery making was once my other passion that got packed away because I just did not have the time for both card making and jewellery.
I started to tinker with the gems and metals that I found in my box and wow I had found my creativity again, something I though may have been gone for good.

I became so productive with my making that a year ago decided to set up an Etsy shop and try my hand at selling my pieces and I am please to say that things are not gong too bad.

So what did you call your Etsy shop I hear you ask? well Eskimo Frosting of course what else?

When I chose the name Eskimo Frosting or should I say when my husband chose the name Eskimo frosting years ago it was always meant to be for my jewellery making hobby/business but I switched to card making at the last minute. For quite awhile this blog has been dedicated to the art of card making. Well I'm about to switch again but I can't promise that the odd card or two won't find its way onto these pages!!!!

Starting today I am going to post items of jewellery that I make and also pieces that inspire me along with the odd basic tutorial on how to make items of jewellery like attaching a clasp and shaping an ear wire.

Lets start the post with the link to my Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/EskimoFrosting

Lapis Lazuli sterling silver Charm bracelet

This is just one of the many pieces that can be found in my Etsy shop.

I was inspired to make this bracelet after a wonderful trip to the Mayan Riviera this year with my family. All the colourful outfits the ladies were wearing and the turquoise blue sea lapping at the shore. I just new what I was going to do with these lovely beads and sterling silver and I have to say I am rather pleased with the way it came out, so much so that it nearly never made it to the shop!

Let me know what you think I would love your feed back.

Until next time

Under the Sea

Good morning. I have been missing in action for a while now on and off but hopefully things will pick up. It seems that every time a get one thing sorted another pops up. I have to say it has been quite a year so far. As some of you know I had a house fire at the start of the year that meant I was out of my home from January to June. Having got that sorted we decided to take a holiday July for a little R&R. We ha a lovely time in Mexico and recharged our batteries. On arriving home on the 4/8/14 I received a letter informing me that my employer will be asking for voluntary redundancies! That was a bit of a shock to the system I can tell you. Then on top of that I ended up in hospital this Sunday 17/8/14 with a mystery allergic reaction that made my head neck and arms swell up! I was prescribed Steroids and Antihistamines to take the swelling down. Fingers crossed it seems to be working but I don't look very attractive at the Mo! I definitely think I have had my run of bad luck for this year, hopefully things can only get better.

Enough moaning and on to more pleasant things. We have a new challenge starting today over at Divas by Design which is Pretty Pearls Sponsored by Iva Nova Chest............................

For my card I have used the new Prima papers Seashore. The Image is by Wee Stamps called Goldie. All of the die cuts have been cut with the Doohickey kit club No1 and the image has been coloured with Copic Markers. I think she would have looked better if I had used my Distress marker though?

Spitz the Christmas Elf

Good morning fellow bloggers. Christmas is almost here so for my SFTW DT team card I have made a another Christmas card using the Fabulous Spitz from Saturated Canary. This fits in nicely with the new challenge that starts today at SFTW.

The theme for this challenge is to use some Red on you project and as always at SFTW you must use either a digital stamp or a rubber stamp on your projects. Our generous sponsor for this challenge is Saturated Canary who kindly provided the team with some lovely image to use.

I love this cute little fella and as soon as I had coloured him with my Copic's I knew exactly which papers to use. I dug out my First Edition Christmas pad and finally after a year of hoarding used the candy cane papers. (well you have to wait for the right image don't you?).
I distressed the edges of al my papers and them layered them up onto a Craftwork card base. The gorgeous wreath cut using a memory box die has been heat embossed using white Frantage embossing powder.
I also used a Doohicky die for the lace at the bottom. The poinsettia flowers were cut using an old quick kutz die.

Thanks for stopping by
My team mates have produced some beautiful projects so do go take a peak.
